Shinkokyu reconnects Japanese forests and craftsmanship.
Each piece is handcrafted from underutilized wood and finished with natural urushi.

This wooden glass is carefully handcrafted in Japan using a variety of hardwoods sourced from managed forests.

In modern forestry, many trees—especially small or irregular ones—are left unused.
Shinkokyu works with these overlooked materials, shaping each piece by hand in small batches, giving new life and value to the wood.

Finished with natural black urushi (Japanese lacquer), the surface is durable, antibacterial, and develops a rich character over time.

Wood has low thermal conductivity, meaning it does not easily transfer heat.
The glass remains comfortable to hold, even with hot drinks, while helping retain warmth.

Through this piece, we hope to bring a quiet connection to the forest into everyday life.

規格外として使われずに残されてきた木材に、新たな価値を与えています。

現代の林業では、小径木や形の不揃いな木が活用されない一方で、漆器の分野では木材不足が課題となっています。
しんこきゅうは、その両者をつなぐことで、資源と技術の循環を生み出しています。

本製品は、適切に管理された森林から採れるさまざまな広葉樹を使用し、日本で一点一点丁寧に手作業で仕上げられています。

仕上げには天然の黒漆を使用。耐久性と抗菌性に優れ、使い込むほどに深みのある風合いへと変化していきます。

木は熱を伝えにくい素材のため、熱い飲み物を入れても持ちやすく、温もりをやさしく保ちます。
